Tango is a novel method to interact with yourself and others. A bodily sense of mutual concentration with another person is known as a connection. You are not alone; you are in this together, you share a common understanding, and you are dedicated to working together.
It's like sharing strong moments of recognition and beauty while within a poem together, trying to figure it out together.
Tango dancing is a way to tap into your creativity. It's an invitation to let your light soul shine and to dare to be completely present at the moment. Tango is a game where you can show off your sass, grace, and unique sense of sexiness. It's a social setting where you can politely accept the wishes of people for you.
All of this happens with individuals you see frequently, as well as strangers with whom you may "connect" without making small conversation. You'll find sensuality in some folks and amazing athleticism in others. Every connection is unique. You'll dance in a variety of settings, each of which will elicit a particular mood from you and the other dancers. You'll also dance to a variety of music that evokes various feelings and recollections. This experience can be "therapeutic" for certain people. Wherever you travel around the globe as a tango dancer, you will have the opportunity to meet local people and have positive experiences.
1) You will lead as a man, and you will have the sharpest learning curve upfront, so memorise and practice. As a woman, you must 'listen' to what the male is saying and just follow what he says. Even if it's a little off the beaten path. Even if you'd rather do something else. Except for the embellishments that you will learn later, every action is led.
2) If you haven't done so already, learn to dance in dancing shoes. Dance shoes for men typically have a higher heel than street shoes. (Stilettos are popular among ladies, but they aren't required.) Good dance shoes will offer you an advantage, let you pivot more easily, and prevent you from spraining your ankle.
3) Rehearse, rehearse, rehearse, rehearse. Practise is much needed to learn tango dance.
